Outline Your Strategy As An Educational Org
Clever Little Handies is a small Irish business focused on helping families build connection and communication through baby sign, interactive storytelling and children's books.
My strategy is to build strong local relationships while growing my reach beyond my home county. I work with libraries, community organisations, schools, bookshops and families to bring accessible, engaging early-years activities directly into local communities.
Alongside classes and events, I use social media to showcase my books, celebrate local stockists, share useful content for parents and give people an authentic insight into the person behind the business.
As a small business, I believe in growing through genuine relationships rather than simply selling. Every library partnership, bookshop, family and community connection helps Clever Little Handies grow while allowing me to support other local businesses and organisations along the way.
What Uniquecreative Do You Do With Your Social Media
I try not to make Clever Little Handies' social media feel like a constant stream of advertisements. I use humour, personality and creativity to bring the brand to life and make parenting-related content feel relatable.
I create spontaneous videos, behind-the-scenes content and playful Reels, including experimenting with AI to create a baby “guest” in a podcast-style video to promote an online class. I also use video to take followers behind the scenes at book festivals, show them where my books are stocked and share real-time updates about classes and availability.
As an author and small business owner, I also use social media to tell the story behind my books and business rather than simply promoting products.
I think the most creative content often comes from keeping things real: picking up my phone, having a bit of fun and finding an interesting way to communicate something that might otherwise be a standard promotional post. My aim is for people to recognise the personality behind Clever Little Handies, not just the logo.
How Are Your Measuring Success Reach Links Traffic Etc
I measure success using a combination of reach, engagement and actions rather than relying on one metric.
I monitor views and reach to understand how far my content is travelling, while interactions, comments and follows help me gauge whether it is resonating with my audience. For promotional content, link clicks are particularly important because they show that people have moved beyond simply viewing a post and are interested enough to find out more.
I also look at the bigger picture: enquiries, class bookings, book sales, new connections with libraries and bookshops, and increased awareness of the Clever Little Handies brand.
I don't expect every post to generate a sale. Some content is designed to drive bookings, while other posts build trust, showcase my personality or strengthen relationships with my community. I therefore judge each post against its purpose.
Ultimately, successful social media for me means reaching the right people, encouraging meaningful action and building a stronger business over time.
